Walking Tour Continued

The chimes did not function for more than ten years but were restored by Frank Morton and Jack Werner in time for the installation of the Reverend Cynthia Johnson in September 1995.

Changing historical displays are maintained in this hall.

At the end of the hall on the right is the entrance to the Jefferson Room. The Jefferson Room is named for Thomas Jefferson, who believed that most of the people in this country would be Unitarian before he died.

The pictures of Jefferson and Monticello hanging in the Jefferson room were given to the church by Louis Cozby.

The room's painting is "The Last Performance" by Gene Bavinger, a well-known architect and artist in Norman. The painting is a depiction of the Ringling Brothers-Barnum and Bailey circus the last year that the circus toured with its own Big Top. It was obtained by Wayne Slawson, a choir member, and purchased through the donations of several church members.

The media center with the chalice on it was designed and constructed by Bill Barr.

There is ramp accessibility to the Jefferson Room near the handicapped parking places just outside.

Daniel Hall is the large hall in the center of the church. It has been remodeled over the years and at one time had a large raised stage at the north end. It is named for the same Mr. Daniel whose plaque is in the entrance to the sanctuary. The kitchen was added as part of the renovation done for the centennial celebration in 1993.
