Walking Tour Continued

Leaving Daniel Hall by going toward the back of the church, the steps lead down to the basement, where coffee and doughnuts are served every Sunday morning before church.

Before the centennial celebration, this was the dining room, and the kitchen was in the storage area you can see as you enter the room.

On the right downstairs is a hall that leads to the Fern Stanley Room, named after a past minister.  The Trump L'oeil art was designed by Kathleen Gilbert.

Across the hall from the Fern Stanley Room, stairs will lead you up to the education wing, called the Murdoch Wing, which holds administration, minister and religious education offices, and classrooms on two floors.

The first room you see in this area is the Eddy Room, the newest dedicated room in the church, designed to be an additional place for adult classes, meetings, receptions, and the library. Church member Dan Eddy was a minister and social activist.

The Murdoch wing is named for Dr. Raymond Murdoch, who made a major donation to the church in 1958 to complete the financing for the building of Eliot Hall and the addition that included the Jefferson Room.  Dr. Murdoch died in October of 1972, just two months before the fire which destroyed Channing House, the old parsonage.
