A Welcoming Congregation

Welcoming CongregationFirst Unitarian Church explicitly welcomes people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender.  We recognize that many GLBT people have experienced rejection and pain in other religious settings, so we have to be clear about our welcome.  In 1998, we proudly completed the UUA’s Welcoming Congregation program, and embarked on “Living the Welcoming Congregation” in 2006.  We continue to learn and grow as we welcome more diverse individuals and families.  Our Interweave chapter can provide additional information about local efforts.  The UUA website provides additional info on the Welcoming Congregation program.

If you are straight, of course, we welcome you, too.  If you have particular concerns about welcome or accessibility of any of our programs, please contact us.
